DO YOU HAVE YOUR RAINY DAY INSURANCE?

April 07, 2021

“Spring Has Sprung” and “April Showers Bring May Flowers”

We all hear these familiar sayings around this time of year. It is the season when things change over from winter to spring and all is new. When the sun shines bright we want to get outside and enjoy the activities we have been missing. This is especially true this spring after a long snowy winter combined with over a year of trying to adjust to life during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Keeping this in mind, we still need to adapt to the days when the rain clouds roll in and the sunshine is hidden. Luckily, when it comes to protection from the rain you can in most cases depend on the local forecast and remember to grab your handy umbrella. However, what about those days when we might forget the umbrella or the local weather report doesn’t get it quite right??  I am guessing a majority of us are likely to keep an extra umbrella at work or in our car to protect ourselves from the unexpected rainstorms. Personally, I always have one that lays on the floor or on the back seat of  my car. So, would I be correct to assume that most of you also prepare for the unexpected rainy days by simply carrying an extra umbrella?

If so, do you also carry an umbrella to protect yourself and your family from other unexpected life events?  An umbrella insurance policy provides coverage over and above your underlying insurance policies.  The umbrella coverage will add an extra layer of liability protection and it is meant to help protect you from large and potentially devastating liability claims or lawsuits.

REASONS YOU SHOULD BUY UMBRELLA INSURANCE:

If you own or rent a HOME

If you own a CAR

If you own a BOAT, MOTORCYCLE,ATV, or any other motorized recreational vehicle

If you own a DOG or any other animals

If you have HIGH ASSETS to protect

If you own a SWIMMING POOL or TRAMPOLINE

If you have a TEEN DRIVER

Many other scenarios not mentioned above can lead to an unexpected lawsuit. The question is can you afford to pay if judgement goes against you without wiping out your savings or putting your other assets at risk? For example, are you prepared to pay damages if your dog bites someone, if someone other than the residents of the household are injured at your residence, or if you are at fault for an auto accident and someone is seriously injured or passes away? These type of liability claims are what many agents see within the insurance industry.
